Spoiler alert! Coyotes win, rabbits loose.
The coyote is a long, slim, sick and sorry-looking skeleton that is a living, breathing allegory of Want. He is always hungry.
While Wile E. Coyote makes a living out of loosing in cinemas, his collegues in the wild make a living out of winning.
We’re staying with friends who literally have the dessert bordering their garden. From time to time that means meter-long snakes on the wrong side of that border, but currently it means coyote-howling, yapping or whatever it is they do – whenever a pack is tearing its prey to pieces. And that happens up to three times every night.
It gets sort of chilling, knowing what that means. And knowing that leaving the left-overs to the rabbits will eventually … well.
A lot of rabbits get eaten.
