Friday July 1st at 8pm we arrive at the airport in Accra, Ghana. We pass the waiting crowd and look forward to get out of the warm airport and into the fresh air. That was before we looked up and realized we already were outside!! The air at the south coast of Ghana is very moist, so it feels much warmer than the dry climate in the north where we’re heading. First night we stay at the Preda Guest House in Tema. Tema is an industrial – and harbour city, about 1 hour drive from the airport. The hotel is nice and clean with large bedrooms and good breakfast and service. Good value for money. In Accra you will now pay more than 100 dollars per night (which I think is very expensive compared to what you get – a budget hotel in Norway would cost you about the same, but would be cleaner and have better breakfast), but we now payed 30 dollar for a single and 40 for a double room. Saturday July 2nd we drove from Tema to Nsoatre, which took us 6,5 hours.
The trip started with beautiful nature.
We drove through many small villages and got to see quite a lot, for example:
A truck with his heavy load. He had packed his load nicely with plastic to cover it and big ropes to tigh it. But…. what’s the deal with the comfy chair on top of all this??? Surely hope he won’t end up like his colleague who probably was to heavy and got his nose stuck up in the air.
According to my parents these type of accidents happen regularly :-(
Arriving safely in Nsoatre a delicious dinner was prepared for us. Thanx to my adopted sister in law Regina!
